Snapchat in its quest to grow more and become an even enjoyable experience has launched a Discover feature, like the one on Twitter for example. On this Discover tab you’ll be able to check out the latest content from popular brands like ESPN, CNN, Vice and Warner Music. In a blog post detailing what the feature will bring on board for Snapchat users, the company has said that it will be working together with it’s editors and staff from popular brands around the world, to determine what’s interesting to read.
In a stunt that remarks, “This is not social media,” the company has expressed its dissatisfaction with the current Discover features where social media companies will determine through an algorithm what is most interesting or most popular. To be different, Snapchat will hand pick their stories on Discover and will not collect this data from clicks and shares as is currently the trend with media companies.
The Discover feature has been ‘built for creatives’, the company says in the blog post. In the current market artists are often forced to adapt to technologies that are built, however, Snapchat claims that the Discover feature is built for the art in a first of ‘Technology built for the art’ mantra. Each edition of the Discover stories will feature full screen photos and videos as well as awesome long form layouts and advertising.
Every edition in Discover will be refreshed after 24 hours in order to keep you in touch with the latest news. To navigate the Discover feature, just tap to open an edition, swipe left to browse Snaps, or swipe up on a Snap for more.
