It all started in the late 1920s with Simone Chotovelli, the first Chotovelli watchmaker. He was well known for his craftsmanship in repairing and restoring old mechanical and automatic movements and from there, his family followed in his footsteps. In 1967, he passed on his knowledge of watchmaking to his son who carried on the legacy to become a well-established watchmaker, and now the third generation have continued this legacy and created the company.
Based in Antwerp, Belgium, Chotovelli & Figli is a third-generation watchmaking company that focuses on design, production, and sale of military-inspired watches at an attainable price. The company came about when one of the co-founders decided to something that was in his blood after being in the diamond industry managing sales for the biggest diamond tools manufacturer when he learned the process of manufacturing. So, after taking his father’s advice, who is second-generation watchmaker, to use his knowledge and know-how of watchmaking, he decided to start Chotovelli & Figli Watch Company.
What they do
They launched their first Kickstarter campaign for their Minimal Pilot Watch “Flieger 1919”. That showcased the classic type B (B-Uhr) dial and it was very successful. They decided to reproduce the classic B-Uhr Type A design naming it “Navigator 1949”. The watch’s design was inspired by the 1940s pocket watches that were issued to U-boat crews and Navy Pilots during the war. These watches are the smallest size watches every made by the company. The dial of the watches created for maximum readability with enlarged marks and accompanying Arabic numerals for each hour.
The retail price of the watch is estimated to be around €190. But backers can pre-order the watch at a price as low as €90 through the early rewards. They are currently operating out of 3 continent. They deliver to the US, Canada and other parts of the world without a minimum order amount. Would be delivered from the nearest port possible therefore offering faster and more reliable service. When people purchase any of their watches, they will receive a two-year warranty for free on all watches. A 30-day exchange policy for any watch that has not worn but scratched or damaged.
